Faith and fantasy are two concepts that are often confused with one another. However, as Christians, we must understand the distinction between the two. Fantasy is a product of the imagination, a world of make-believe where reality and fantasy are indistinguishable. On the other hand, faith is a personal decision, an act of affirmation, a leap into the dark, where we commit ourselves to a higher power, in this case, God.

The Christian epistemology provides a clear distinction between reality and fantasy. Faith is not a product of our imagination, but rather a commitment to a higher power who has revealed himself to us through the Bible. This commitment is not based on our own reason or intellect, but rather on the authority of God's Word. Faith is not a leap into the unknown, but rather a step of obedience to God's commands. As the Bible says, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1). This means that faith is not based on our own feelings or experiences, but rather on the promises of God.

The Distinction between Faith and Superstition

Some critics argue that faith is nothing more than superstition, a mere leap of faith with no basis in reality. However, this is not what faith is about. Faith is not a matter of holding a particular position about the nature of ultimate spiritual reality without any evidence. Rather, faith is a commitment to a higher power who has revealed himself to us through the Bible. It is a trust and reliance on God's promises, not a mere fantasy or superstition. As the Bible says, "Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ" (Romans 10:17). This means that faith is not something that we come up with on our own, but rather something that is rooted in the Word of God.
