Biblical Answer

The Bible teaches that giving is an act of worship and a way to acknowledge God as our Provider (Malachi 3:10). In the Old Testament, the Israelites were required to give a tithe, which was 10% of their income, to support the Levites and the poor (Leviticus 27:30-32). However, it does teach the importance of using our time and resources to serve others and to support the work of God. This can involve volunteering, serving in our churches, or supporting Christian ministries that are making a difference in the world. Ultimately, the key is to give from a heart of generosity and love for God, rather than out of obligation or to impress others. As Proverbs 19:17 says, "Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done." By giving our time and resources to serve others, we are not just fulfilling a requirement, but we are also building a relationship with God and demonstrating our love for Him.
