Finding Joy in the Simple Things in Life

Joy is not something we manufacture or create for ourselves, but rather it comes from God. As Psalm 16:11 says, "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." We are freed to take joy in the things God has blessed, and He is the God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment (1 Tim. 6:17). This means that we can find joy in the simple things in life, such as eating, drinking, and working (Eccles. 5:18-20).

One of the most common places to look for joy is in creation. Scripture assumes that we will experience joy in the beauty of nature, the wonder of creation, and the beauty of the church.
