Can a Christian be a 'good' engineer and still maintain a biblical worldview?

A Christian can be a 'good' engineer and still maintain a biblical worldview. In fact, Christian doctrine teaches that spirituality and salvation are not to be found by avoiding the material world. As God completed each day of His creation activity, He declared, "It is good" (Gen. 1:4,10,12). This means that God values and blesses the work of engineers and other professionals who seek to create and improve the world around them.

Moreover, the Bible teaches that Christians are to be proficient in all areas of life, including their work. In 2 Timothy 3:14-17, the Apostle Paul writes, "But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." This passage suggests that Christians should be equipped for every good work, including their professional work as engineers.

In fact, being a Christian and knowing God can actually enhance a person's work as an engineer. By applying a biblical worldview to their work, engineers can seek to create and improve the world around them in a way that is pleasing to God. This means that they will seek to create products and solutions that are not only functional and efficient, but also just and compassionate. As the Apostle Paul writes, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10). By seeking to do good works in their professional life, engineers can live out their faith in a meaningful and impactful way.
