Will there be marriage in heaven?

The Bible teaches that there will be no marrying or giving in marriage in the resurrection (Matthew 22:30; Mark 12:25; Luke 20:35). This means that the concept of marriage as we know it on earth will not exist in heaven. In fact, Jesus says that those who are resurrected will be like the angels of God in heaven, who do not marry or are given in marriage (Matthew 22:30).

The reason for this is that marriage in heaven will be superseded by a deeper and more intimate relationship with God. The marriage relationship is a shadow of the relationship that we will have with Christ in heaven (Ephesians 5:31-32). This relationship is not based on human love or intimacy, but on the love and intimacy that God has with us. In heaven, we will be united with Christ in a way that is far greater than any human marriage.

In the Christian vision of heaven, there is no marriage in the blessed life to come. Marital intimacy is but a shadow of a brighter, more glorious reality, the marriage of Christ and his church (Ephesians 5:25-29). This means that our focus should not be on earthly marriage, but on cultivating a deeper relationship with God and preparing ourselves for the marriage of Christ and his church in heaven. By doing so, we can experience a deeper sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in our lives, even in the midst of trials and challenges. Ultimately, our marriage relationship on earth is not our ultimate joy and satisfaction, but rather a means to an end - to prepare us for the ultimate marriage of Christ and his church in heaven.
