How do I know if God has forgiven me?

The Bible teaches that God forgives us through the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son (1 John 1:7). This forgiveness is not just a general forgiveness, but a specific forgiveness that cleanses us from all sin. However, this forgiveness is not automatic. We must confess our sins before God and seek His forgiveness. If we refuse to confess our sins, God will not forgive us.

Knowing if God has forgiven us requires more than just intellectual understanding. It requires a personal experience of forgiveness. When we come to God with a repentant heart, He forgives us and gives us a clean slate. But this forgiveness is not just a one-time event. It is an ongoing process that requires us to continually seek God's forgiveness and to trust in His mercy. If we find ourselves struggling with the same sins over and over again, it may be a sign that we have not truly experienced God's forgiveness.

The key to knowing if God has forgiven us is to examine our hearts and actions. Do we trust in God's mercy and forgiveness, or do we doubt His goodness? Do we seek to forgive others, or do we hold grudges and seek revenge? If we are full of God's Spirit, we will be like Him, forgiving and merciful. But if we are struggling with guilt, shame, and worthlessness, it may be a sign that we have not truly experienced God's forgiveness. In this case, we need to seek God's forgiveness and trust in His mercy. The Bible teaches us to "trust and obey," and to "accept new happiness and new opportunities" as we seek to follow God's will.
