Maintaining Faith in Times of Adversity

When everything seems to be taken away, it can be challenging to maintain faith. However, the Bible teaches us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). To keep our faith strong, we must be willing to expose ourselves to the words of God in Scripture, particularly the gospel, which promises salvation in the coming judgment of God.

Praying for Faith

Prayer is a crucial aspect of maintaining faith. We must pray specifically about any obstacle in our lives, asking Christ to enlighten us and give us strength to overcome the roadblocks. It's essential to remember that faith is not intellectual understanding but a deliberate commitment to the Person of Jesus Christ, even when we can't see the way ahead. We must be willing to take a leap of faith into God's provision, trusting that He will do something even when we don't know what He will do.

Growing in Faith

To grow in faith, we must be willing to learn more of God's Word and obey Him more fully. This can be done by making a commitment to attend meetings where we can listen to preaching and teaching of God's Word. We must also be willing to take steps of faith, even when we're unsure of the outcome. As we do so, we'll develop a greater faith than ever, and our trust in God will be strengthened. Ultimately, faith is not about having all the answers but about trusting in the Person of Jesus Christ, who is the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). By committing to Him and His Word, we'll find the strength and courage to keep our faith strong, even in the darkest of times.
