The Call to Excellence in Christian Work

As a Christian, I believe that being excellent at my job is not just about achieving success or recognition, but about serving God and others with excellence. This means that I should strive to be the best worker I can be, not just for my own benefit, but for the glory of God and the benefit of those I serve. As Paul wrote in Colossians 3:23-24, "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward." This means that I should approach my work with a sense of purpose and passion, knowing that I am serving a higher purpose than just my own interests.

The Importance of a Servant's Heart

Being excellent at my job as a Christian also means having a servant's heart. This means that I should be willing to serve others, even when it's difficult or uncomfortable. As Jesus taught in Matthew 20:26-28, "Whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." This means that I should be willing to put the needs of others before my own, and to serve with humility and kindness. By doing so, I can be a powerful influence for good in the world, and bring glory to God.

Growing in Spiritual Maturity

Finally, being excellent at my job as a Christian means growing in spiritual maturity. This means that I should continually seek to learn and grow in my faith, and to apply biblical principles to my work and life. As Peter wrote in 2 Peter 3:18, "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." This means that I should be committed to ongoing Bible study, prayer, and fellowship with other believers, and to seeking the guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit in all that I do. By doing so, I can become a more effective servant of God, and bring glory to Him in all that I do. In summary, being excellent at my job as a Christian means serving God and others with excellence, having a servant's heart, and growing in spiritual maturity. By following these principles, I can become a powerful influence for good in the world, and bring glory to God in all that I do.
