Feeling normal again is a common concern for those struggling with depression, anxiety, or other emotional challenges. The Bible offers a unique perspective on this issue, one that emphasizes the importance of faith, hope, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Source of Our Struggles

The Bible teaches that our struggles, including depression and anxiety, are not just the result of external circumstances, but also of our internal nature. As the psalmist writes, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting" (Psalm 139:23-24). This passage suggests that our struggles often stem from our own sinful desires and thought patterns. When we acknowledge and confess our sins, God is able to begin a work of restoration in our hearts.

Finding Hope and Normalcy in Christ

When we look to Jesus, we can find hope and normalcy in the midst of our struggles. The Bible teaches that Jesus is the one who "has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed" (Isaiah 53:4-5). Through faith in Jesus, we can experience healing and restoration, even in the midst of our struggles. As we seek to follow Jesus and live according to His teachings, we can find a sense of normalcy and peace that is not dependent on external circumstances. As the apostle Paul writes, "For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (2 Corinthians 4:6). In Jesus, we can find the light and hope that we need to navigate even the darkest of times.
