Will I Ever Feel Normal Again?

It's natural to wonder if you'll ever feel "normal" again, especially when struggling with depression, anxiety, or addiction. The good news is that, with Jesus, you will no longer be alone in your struggles. You will be strengthened, and you will be changed. Expect to say, "This is exactly what I needed." However, it's essential to understand that feeling "normal" might not be the same as feeling "healed." As Jim put it, "I hate how stressed I get at times and how my mind will get stuck in an all-too-familiar loop of negative rumination." It's possible that you may still experience anxiety or stress, but with Jesus, you can learn to navigate these emotions in a healthier way.

The Bible teaches us that, as we walk with Jesus, we will be transformed and renewed (2 Cor. 4:16-18). Our pain may not disappear, but it will lose its devastating power. We will learn to see the world in a different light, and our hearts will be filled with a new sense of purpose and hope. As you seek the Lord, you will begin to see the world as wider than your fears, and you will discover that it has so much more to offer than your unhappiness. You will learn to "shut up and listen" to God's voice, and you will find that He is always speaking, always guiding, and always loving you.

As you walk this journey with Jesus, you will encounter challenges and setbacks, but you will also experience radical change. You will see sin in your life, and you will cry out to the Lord in desperation, asking for His help and forgiveness. And as you do, you will begin to feel the weight of your struggles lifting, and you will start to feel a sense of peace and hope that you never thought possible. Remember, feeling "normal" might not be the same as feeling "healed," but with Jesus, you can experience a new kind of normal, one that is rooted in His love, His peace, and His presence. As the Bible says, "Pray for the friend who comes to you at midnight, pray for the saints of God, and pray for all men" (Luke 11:5-8). Pray with the realization that you are not alone, and that Jesus is always with you, guiding you, and loving you.
