what is my new normal
Finding Your New Normal
As we navigate through life, we often find ourselves facing unexpected challenges and circumstances that disrupt our sense of normalcy. It's as if we're caught off guard, and our world is turned upside down. In such moments, it's essential to remember that God has a plan for our lives, and He is always working to establish a new normal – one that reflects His character and brings about a fruitful life.
What is Normal?
According to 2 Peter 1:5-7, our new normal is built upon a foundation of faith, which is essential for a fruitful life. As we grow in our faith, we add to it virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. These qualities become the norms of our character, shaping us into the image of Christ. Remembering God's Word is crucial in this process, as it helps us understand who He is and who we are in relation to Him. By recalling His promises and character, we can learn to fear the Lord and live according to His will.
Finding Rightness in Our Relationship with God
Job's story in Job 1:1-5 is a great example of how our sense of normalcy can be disrupted. However, in the midst of his struggles, Job affirms his relationship with God, saying, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised" (Job 1:21). This statement reflects Job's desire to normalize his relationship with God, to find the rightness of his relationship with Him. As we face our own challenges, we can learn from Job's example and strive to normalize our relationship with God by affirming our trust in Him, recalling His promises, and living according to His will. By doing so, we can find a new normal that brings about a fruitful life and reflects God's character.
