What Happens When I'm Not Here Anymore?

The Bible teaches us that our existence in this world is temporary and subject to death. In 1 Corinthians 15:55, the Apostle Paul writes, "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" (NIV). This passage suggests that death is not the end of existence, but rather a transition to another state. According to Scripture, our physical bodies will one day be transformed, and we will be raised in a new, spiritual body (1 Corinthians 15:43-45, 51-55).

In 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Paul encourages believers to focus on the eternal perspective, rather than the temporary one. He writes, "Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." This passage reminds us that our existence in this world is but a small part of our overall existence, and that our focus should be on the eternal realm.

When we die, we will be raised in a new body, and we will continue to exist in a state of transformed glory. This is not the end of our existence, but rather a transition to a new and eternal state. In Revelation 21:4, Jesus promises, "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." (NIV). This passage suggests that in the eternal state, there will be no more suffering, no more pain, and no more death. Instead, there will be eternal joy, peace, and happiness in the presence of God. Ultimately, our existence in this world is but a small part of our overall existence, and our focus should be on the eternal realm.
