The Storm of the Judgment of God

The Bible teaches that God is sovereign over all creation, and that He is a God of justice and righteousness. As such, He will ultimately judge all people, including those who have rejected Him and His ways. This judgment is not just a matter of eternal consequences, but also has implications for our lives here and now. When we try to build a "roof" over our heads, whether it be through material possessions or financial security, we are attempting to shield ourselves from the consequences of our sin. However, this "roof" is ultimately a false protection, and will ultimately be taken away.

The Tension of Living Without a "Roof"

When we lose our job, it can be a very difficult and stressful experience. It can feel like we have lost our sense of security and stability, and that we are exposed to the elements. However, this can also be a wake-up call to re-evaluate our priorities and our relationship with God. The Bible teaches that God is our true Provider and Sustainer, and that He is able to meet all of our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). When we trust in Him, we can have confidence that He will provide for us, even in the midst of uncertainty and turmoil.

A New Perspective on Financial Security

So, how do we keep a roof over our heads when we've lost our job? First and foremost, we need to trust in God's sovereignty and provision. We need to recognize that our financial security is not ultimately dependent on our job or our bank account, but on God's goodness and faithfulness. We can take practical steps to seek out new employment or to explore other sources of income, but ultimately, we need to trust in God's ability to provide for us. We also need to be willing to let go of our attachment to material possessions and financial security, and to trust in God's ability to meet our needs in new and unexpected ways. By doing so, we can experience a sense of freedom and peace that is not dependent on external circumstances.
