How do I balance my faith and my feelings?
Balancing Faith and Feelings
Faith and feelings are two different things. Feelings can be unpredictable and change quickly, but faith is a choice. We must choose to trust in God and His promises, even when our feelings tell us otherwise. The Bible says, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17). This means that our faith is strengthened by hearing and studying God's Word. It's not about how we feel, but about what we know and believe.
When our feelings get in the way of our faith, we need to take a step back and assess our situation. We need to ask ourselves questions like, "What is holding me back from trusting God?" or "What am I afraid of?" Sometimes, our feelings are a result of our circumstances, but our faith must always triumph over our circumstances. The Bible says, "Your faith may not change circumstances, but it can glorify God in difficult circumstances" (When Your Faith Doesn't Seem to Work, 209). We must choose to trust in God, even when things don't make sense or don't feel right.
To balance our faith and feelings, we need to develop a daily personal time with God. This is when we talk to Him and He talks to us friend to friend. As we establish a prayer-relationship with God, our faith will grow. We must also be willing to take a leap of faith into God's provision. Our faith will grow today if we do what God has told us. We must remember that faith is not about how we feel, but about what we know and believe. By choosing to trust in God and His promises, we can develop a strong and dynamic faith that will carry us through even the toughest times.
