The Role of Gratitude in the Face of Sacrifice

Gratitude plays a vital role in the face of sacrifice, particularly in the context of Christianity. Christians believe that God created us and every good thing we have, and that He offers us salvation as a free gift, won for us by Jesus' death. This realization produces gratitude (Col. 1:12). In addition, there is much to be thankful for in the world we live in that God created. Our thanks are directed to God the Father through the Lord Jesus Christ for the provision that we receive.

Gratitude is not only a response to God's provision, but also a means of overcoming adversity. Unbelievers who practice the skill of thankfulness can hold the darkest depression at bay, and even push back against depression and lighten it. Thankfulness begins with a sense of our own desperateness, knowing that we are needy and unable to supply our own needs. Then comes someone who gives us what we couldnt give ourselves, and our lot improves. We are filled with gratitude and thanks.

Daily gratitude is quite literally good for you, and it is a vital part of living a life that reflects Christian values and teachings.
