The Bible's Teaching on Death

The Bible teaches that death is not extinction or annihilation, but rather separation from God and the body. This is evident in passages such as Isaiah 59:2, which says, "Your iniquities have separated you from your God." In Hebrews 9:27, death is connected to the consequence of judgment, and it is appointed for men to die once and after that comes judgment. This understanding of death is also reflected in 1 Corinthians 15:26, where death is described as an enemy that can only be removed by faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Significance of Death in the Bible

The Bible portrays death as having redemptive significance. Jesus' death, for example, is seen as a self-sacrifice that brings about the redemption of sinners (Hebrews 2:9). The General Epistles also speak of Christ's death as universal in intent, emphasizing that he died for everyone. The Nature of Death
