When considering the question of why God allowed a family member to betray us, it's essential to grasp the complex relationship between God's sovereignty and human agency. The Bible teaches that God is all-powerful and all-knowing, yet human beings have the capacity to make choices that affect the world around us. Instead, we are called to trust in his goodness and forgiveness, and to seek reconciliation with him and with others. This requires a willingness to let go of our expectations and to trust in God's loving and merciful character.
