The Nature of Trust

When it comes to trusting our medical insurance, we often rely on the promises of coverage and financial security. However, as we have seen in the example provided, even with a seemingly reliable plan, unexpected setbacks can arise. The deductible, which was initially a concern, ended up being a mere $5000. However, the real issue lies in the unpredictability of life's events. We cannot control the twists and turns that come our way, and our insurance plan, no matter how robust, cannot guarantee a life free of medical expenses.

The Sovereignty of God

As followers of Christ, we must remember that our trust lies not in the things of this world, but in the sovereignty of God. He is the One who governs all of creation, including the healthcare system and the circumstances of our lives. In Psalm 138:8, it is written, "The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O God, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands." This verse reminds us that our trust should be in God's plan and purpose for our lives, rather than in the fleeting promises of insurance policies.

The Importance of Trust in God

In light of this, we must re-evaluate our trust in medical insurance. While it can provide a measure of security, it is ultimately unreliable. Our trust should be in the God who created us and sustains us. He is the One who has promised to provide for our needs, including our physical health. In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus teaches us to trust in God's provision, saying, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?" Let us not put our trust in the things of this world, but in the God who is our Rock and our Redeemer. By trusting in Him, we can find peace and security, even in the midst of uncertainty and change.
