Your Question:

what's the point of living if it's just going to be painful?

Answer:

I understand that you're feeling overwhelmed by pain and wondering if it's all worth it. As a pastor, I've seen many people struggle with similar feelings. But I want to share with you what I've learned from my own experiences and from the Bible. It's not just about tolerating pain, but finding purpose in it.

When I'm struggling with pain, I try to reflect on where it's coming from and what's intensifying it. I also think about what I've lost and what I believe I need that I don't have. This helps me to see that pain is often a sign that something needs to change in my life. As the Bible says, "Dying to yourself is always painful." But this kind of pain leads to life. I've seen this in my own marriage and family. When we humble ourselves before God and desire to live His way, He can resurrect even the most dead relationships.

It's easy to feel like God is distant or indifferent when we're in pain. But the Bible says that God is always working, even in our suffering. He uses hardships to refine and change us, to make us more like Christ. And one day, there will be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Revelation 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." This gives me hope, even in the midst of pain.
