Biblical Answer

We often wonder why God doesn't seem to be helping us in our time of need. The Bible teaches us that God is always with us, even in the midst of trouble and suffering. In Psalm 22:1-2, David cries out to God, "Why are you so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer; and by night, but find no rest." Despite his cries for help, David still affirms God's sovereignty and presence in his life. This teaches us that even when God doesn't seem to be helping us, He is still with us and working in our lives.

One reason God may not seem to be helping us is that we don't fully understand His ways or timing. In Philippians 4:11-13, Paul writes, "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength." This teaches us that God's strength is sufficient for us, even in the midst of hardship and suffering. Another reason God may not seem to be helping us is that we may not be fully trusting in Him. If we don't believe that He will answer our prayers, we may not receive the help we need.

Ultimately, God's ways and timing are not our own. He has His own good reasons for not answering our prayers or helping us in the way we want. As Jesus said in Luke 22:42, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. But if it is not possible for you to do so, then I will drink its contents and get it over with." This teaches us that God's sovereignty and will are not bound by our prayers or desires. We must learn to trust in His goodness and sovereignty, even when He doesn't seem to be helping us. By doing so, we can find peace and contentment in the midst of suffering and hardship. As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." May we learn to trust in God's sovereignty and goodness, even when He doesn't seem to be helping us.
