The Problem of Feeling Overwhelmed and Impossible

When we feel overwhelmed and unable to make progress, it's easy to become discouraged and lose sight of our goals. It's as if we're facing impossible problems, and we don't know where to start or how to make a difference. But the truth is, God doesn't call us to solve impossible problems. Instead, He calls us to be faithful with what is directly in front of us. We often get caught up in trying to achieve something big and grand, but in reality, it's the small, ordinary tasks that make up the bulk of our lives.

The Bible teaches us that we are all prone to failure and that we often do the things we don't want to do, and fail to do the things we want to do (Romans 7:15-20). This is a universal human experience, and it's not something to be ashamed of. In fact, it's a reminder that we need God's help and guidance in our lives. Rather than trying to be perfect or achieve something impossible, we should focus on being faithful in the small things. This is where we find true joy and fulfillment, and where we can make a real difference in the world.

So, what's the point of even trying when everything feels so impossible? The answer is that trying itself is not the problem. It's our attitude and approach that can be the issue. When we try to manipulate circumstances or avoid pain, we're not really trying to solve the problem, we're just trying to escape it. But when we turn to God and say, "You must do this. I can't," we open ourselves up to His power and guidance. We don't have to be perfect or achieve something impossible. We just need to be faithful and trust in God's goodness and sovereignty. As the Bible says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6). By doing so, we can find peace and hope, even in the midst of overwhelming circumstances.
