Your Question:
Why does God let us struggle when He's supposed to be all-powerful?
Answer:
As a pastor, I've had my fair share of questions from congregation members about why God allows us to struggle despite being all-powerful. One perspective is that God allows us to struggle so that we may learn to rely on Him more closely. This is not because He's unable to protect us, but rather because He wants to expose us to our own inadequacy and drive us to Him. It's a refining process, where we're forced to confront our weaknesses and limitations, and in doing so, we're drawn closer to Him. It's also worth noting that God's power is not about doing what we want Him to do, but about doing what He decides to do. His omnipotence is not about controlling external circumstances, but about being able to accomplish His purposes through us, even when we're struggling. This is why He places tremendous responsibilities on us, expecting us to obey and trust Him, even when things seem impossible. It's a call to faith, where we're asked to trust in His goodness and sovereignty, even when we don't understand. As I reflect on this, I'm reminded of the story of Job, who suffered greatly despite his faithfulness to God. Yet, in the midst of his suffering, Job chose to bless God, saying, "The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." This is a powerful example of trusting in God's goodness, even when we don't understand His ways. It's a reminder that our struggles are not a sign of God's absence, but rather an opportunity for us to grow in our faith and trust in Him.
