Biblical Answer

Hope is a skill that develops over time, and it is also a corporate venture that needs the reminders of the body of Christ. We are people who hope, and it is distinctly human. We look forward to the future, and our hopes and dreams give us purpose. When we offer hope, it must be because we have found hope. As Christians, we believe in the sovereignty of God over all creation, and we trust that He is working everything out for our good (Romans 8:28). This gives us hope for the future, even in the midst of difficult circumstances.

In the Bible, hope is a central theme. It is one of the theological virtues, and it is a way of living that looks forward to the eternal world. It is not escapism or wishful thinking, but rather a way of trusting in God's goodness and sovereignty. As the Psalmist says, "Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God" (Psalm 43:5). When we put our hope in God, we can face the present with confidence and look forward to the future with hope.

This is the hope that we have as Christians, and it is a hope that can sustain us through even the toughest of times. As the Apostle Paul says, "I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned to be content, whether I am full or hungry, or whether I have plenty or want. I can do all things through him who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:11-13). This is the hope that we can have in everyday moments, and it is a hope that can give us peace and confidence in the midst of uncertainty.
