Why did I have to lose my sense of self, and my job, and my business, and my family?

Losing one's sense of self, job, business, and family can be a painful and challenging experience. From a Christian perspective, it is essential to understand that God created us to create, and when we fail to create in a thoughtful and worshipful manner, we may feel less fulfilled and more disconnected from our true selves. This can lead to a sense of disorientation and confusion, causing us to lose our sense of identity and purpose.

Furthermore, when we become overly focused on our own needs and desires, we can become enslaved to them, leading to feelings of guilt, shame, and anxiety. This can manifest in various ways, such as addiction, lust, greed, or ambition. In my own journey, I had to confront my own flaws and weaknesses, and it was only when I began to let go of my need to be right and to be well-thought-of that I was able to find a sense of peace and contentment. It was a difficult process, but it allowed me to discover a new sense of purpose and identity.

In many cases, our sense of self and our relationships can be deeply tied to our past experiences and family dynamics. If we fail to address these issues, they can continue to shape our present and future. It is essential to take a long, painful look back at our past and to seek help from others to understand how it intersects with our future. By confronting our flaws and weaknesses, and by seeking to understand and address the root causes of our struggles, we can begin to heal and move forward, discovering a new sense of purpose and identity in the process. This requires trust in God's sovereignty and power to transform our lives, even in the midst of pain and difficulty. As the Bible says, "He knows the way He taketh, even if for the moment we do not." (Job 38:41) We can trust that God is working in our lives, even when we don't understand what's happening. And with that trust, we can begin to let go of our old selves and discover a new sense of purpose and identity.
