Can I Still Be a Good Person Even If I'm Struggling to Make Ends Meet?

As a follower of Jesus Christ, we are called to live a life that reflects the character of God. This means we are to be good and kind, even when it's hard. In fact, the Bible says, "You can be good for the mere sake of goodness; you cannot be bad for the mere sake of badness" (Luke 6:9). This means that we can choose to act with kindness and compassion, even when we don't feel like it. We can choose to be good, not because we want to feel good about ourselves, but because it's the right thing to do.

But what about when we're struggling to make ends meet? Can we still be good people? Absolutely. In fact, Jesus taught us that our good deeds are not motivated by our desire to be good, but by our relationship with Him. He said, "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). This means that our good deeds are a reflection of our relationship with God, and not just a way to feel good about ourselves.

So, even when we're struggling to make ends meet, we can still be good people. We can still choose to act with kindness and compassion, even when it's hard. We can still choose to love others, even when we're feeling overwhelmed. And we can still choose to trust in God's goodness and provision, even when we don't understand it. As the Bible says, "Loving others is not simply a duty; it is the way you are designed" (Genesis 2:24). We were created to love and be loved, and that doesn't change just because our circumstances change.
