The punishment for lying in the Bible is severe and varied. In the Old Testament, the punishment for lying is often swift and immediate, and can be nonnegotiable. In the book of Exodus, God says, "He will by no means clear the guilty" (Exod. 34:7), indicating that those who lie will not be spared. In the book of Leviticus, perjury is linked with all varieties of lying, including dealing falsely, gossip, breaking contract, and swearing falsely in God's name (Lev 19:11-12,16). In the book of Deuteronomy, false witnesses are to be put to death, and the person who executes them is not to be spared either (Deut. 17:7).

In the New Testament, the punishment for lying is also severe. In the book of Revelation, it is written that all liars will be found in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, far from the heavenly city (Rev. 21:8). In the book of Hebrews, it is written that God cannot lie, and that it is impossible for Him to speak falsely (Heb. 6:18). In the book of James, it is written that God cannot be tempted with evil, and that He is not a God of falsehood (James 1:13-14). In the book of 2 Timothy, it is written that those who are caught in lies feel the consequences of shame, and that those who lie will not escape (2 Tim. 2:15).

The punishment for lying in the Bible is not limited to physical punishment, but also includes spiritual punishment. In the book of 1 Corinthians, it is written that those who lie will be denied the hope of true salvation and transformation, and will be sent to hell (1 Cor. 6:9-10). In the book of Matthew, Jesus warns against lying, saying that those who lie will not enter the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 5:37). In the book of Revelation, it is written that those who lie will be punished eternally, and will be far from the presence of God (Rev. 21:8).
