The Experience of God's Love

To experience God's love, we must first understand that it is a relationship, not just a feeling. The Bible says, "In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins" (1 John 4:10). This means that God's love for us is not based on our love for Him, but rather on His love for us. We can experience God's love by seeing it through different kinds of relationships, such as our relationships with family, friends, and community. We can also experience God's love through His creation, as the Psalmist says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1).

Another way to experience God's love is through contemplation and meditation. We can ask ourselves questions like, "If I were sure that I loved God, what would I do?" and then go and do it. We can also examine ourselves to see if we are showing love to others, such as our family, friends, and neighbors. The Bible says, "We love because He first loved us" (1 John 4:19). When we experience God's love, we will be filled with the fullness of God, as the Bible says, "I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe" (Ephesians 1:18-19).

Experiencing God's love is not just about feelings, but about living a life that reflects His love. We can do this by serving God and others, even when it feels like we are going through the motions. The Bible says, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind" (Mark 12:30). When we serve God, His love attends every moment of our lives, even the toughest and most painful times. We can experience God's love by trusting in His goodness and sovereignty, even when we don't understand what He is doing. As the Bible says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).
