What does it mean to be a failure when I've worked my whole life?
To be a failure is to give up and refuse to try again. It is not about the number of times we fail, but about our attitude towards failure. When we fail, we have two options: to give up or to learn from our mistakes and try again. The Bible teaches us that perseverance is key to success. In the parable of the persistent widow, Jesus teaches us that we should not give up, even when we face obstacles and failures (Luke 18:1-8).
The Bible also teaches us that failure is not the end, but rather an opportunity to learn and grow. In the story of Noah, God saw the wickedness of the world and decided to destroy it, but Noah's obedience and faithfulness led to his salvation and the salvation of his family (Genesis 6-7). This story teaches us that even in the midst of failure, we can choose to obey God and trust in His goodness. We can also learn from the example of King David, who failed in his marriage and parenting, but still remained faithful to God and learned valuable lessons from his mistakes (2 Samuel 11-12).
Ultimately, failure is not about our worth as individuals, but about our choices and actions. When we fail, we can choose to give up and refuse to try again, or we can learn from our mistakes and keep moving forward. The Bible teaches us that we are not defined by our failures, but by our faith and obedience to God. As the Psalmist says, "I will put my trust in you. Teach me your ways so I may follow your commands" (Psalm 119:33). By putting our trust in God and following His commands, we can overcome failure and achieve success in our lives. We can also learn to examine ourselves regularly before God to see if our life is measuring up to the standard He has for us, and make adjustments as needed to stay on the right path.
