Finding Strength in the Dark

When everything feels so dark, it can be challenging to find the strength to keep going. The Bible reminds us that darkness is a time to listen, not to talk. It's a time to be quiet and still, trusting that God is working even when we can't see what He's doing. As Psalm 88:18 says, "darkness is my closest friend." This doesn't mean that we're supposed to enjoy the darkness or be comfortable with it, but rather that we're to trust in God's presence even in the midst of it.

The key to finding strength in the dark is to exercise our faith. Faith is not just about knowing what God can do, but also about trusting that He will do something, even when we don't know what it is. This requires spiritual exercise, which is not just about reading about faith or thinking about it, but about actually living it out. As the Bible says, "faith by spiritual exercise" (Romans 1:17). This means that we must be intentional about our relationship with God, talking to Him continually and seeking to understand His will for our lives. When we do this, we can trust that He will give us the strength we need to keep going, even in the darkest of times.

The Bible also reminds us that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). This means that even in the midst of darkness, we can trust that God is working to bring us into the light. We don't have to be afraid of the darkness, because we know that it's temporary and that God is always working to bring us out of it. As Isaiah 40:31 says, "those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be faint." This means that we can trust that God will give us the strength we need to keep going, even in the darkest of times. We just need to wait on Him and trust in His goodness.
