What if I lose my home?
What if I lose my home?
Losing a home can be a traumatic experience, but as Christians, we must not put our hope in material possessions. Our home, no matter how beautiful or comfortable, is not our ultimate security. In fact, the Bible warns us that we cannot take our house with us when we die (1 Chronicles 29:15). The Psalmist reminds us that "a house is built by a man, but a city is built by the Lord" (Psalm 127:1). This means that even if we work hard to build a beautiful home, it is ultimately not ours to keep. We must learn to let go and trust in God's sovereignty.
As we face the uncertainty of losing our home, we must remember that we are aliens and pilgrims in this world (Hebrews 11:13-16). Our true home is with God, and we must not put our hope in earthly things. The Bible teaches us that a house larger than our needs is a hindrance to our progress towards heaven (Proverbs 25:27). Instead of focusing on material possessions, we must prioritize our relationship with God and build our lives on the foundation of faith. When we do, we will find that our true home is not in a physical building, but in the presence of God.
In the midst of uncertainty, we can find comfort in the promise of God to establish a house for us (2 Samuel 7:13). This house is not a physical building, but a spiritual one, where we can dwell in the presence of God. As we face the loss of our home, we can trust in God's sovereignty and provision. We can pray for wisdom, guidance, and determination to rebuild our lives and our homes in a way that honors God. May we learn to see our homes as a place of worship, a house of prayer, where we can seek God's presence and guidance in all things. (Isaiah 56:7)
