The Sovereignty of God

The sovereignty of God is a biblical truth that can help us understand why God may take away our ability to enjoy life. According to the Bible, God is the sovereign creator and sustainer of all things (Psalm 103:19, Romans 11:36). He has a purpose and plan for every person's life, and He is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28-30). This means that God's decisions and actions are not arbitrary or capricious, but are always in line with His perfect will.

Our Desire for God

The Bible teaches that our desire for God is a gift from God Himself (Psalm 37:4, Matthew 6:33). However, this desire is not a guarantee, and it can be hindered or even removed by God for His own purposes. As the Bible says, "The joy of the Lord is our strength" (Nehemiah 8:10), but this joy is not something that we can manufacture or achieve on our own. Rather, it is a gift that comes from God, and it is tied to our relationship with Him. If our relationship with God is not right, or if we are not seeking Him with all our heart, then our desire for Him may be hindered or removed.

Our Purpose and Plan

As believers, we are called to seek God's glory and do His will (Isaiah 43:7, Ephesians 5:10). Our purpose and plan in life is to know and enjoy God, and to live a life that honors Him (Psalm 16:11, 1 John 1:3). However, if we are not seeking God's glory and doing His will, then our purpose and plan may be hindered or removed by God. This can be a difficult and painful experience, but it is an opportunity for us to learn and grow in our relationship with God. As the Bible says, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). Our purpose and plan in life is to know and enjoy God, and to live a life that honors Him. If our ability to enjoy life is taken away, it may be because God is trying to impress upon us the one thing that is not entirely right in our lives, and to lead us back to Him.
