The Role of Mercy in the Face of Judgment

Mercy is an attribute of God that plays a crucial role in the face of judgment. When we sin, we deserve punishment, but God's mercy pardons our sin and relieves our distress. This mercy is not a protection from the consequences of our sin, but rather a sanctuary for those who are penitent and confess their sin. As the Bible says, "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy" (Proverbs 28:13).

Mercy and Justice

Mercy and justice are often seen as opposing forces, but they are actually two sides of the same coin.
