Biblical Answer

The concept of marriage in heaven is a topic of much debate among Christians. Some argue that marriage will continue in heaven, while others claim that it will cease to exist. However, the Bible provides a clear answer to this question. In Matthew 22:30, Jesus states that in the resurrection, there will be no marrying or giving in marriage. This is reinforced by Mark 12:25 and Luke 20:35, which also indicate that there will be no marriage in the resurrection. This suggests that marriage as we know it will not continue in heaven.

The reason for this is that in heaven, believers will be like the angels, who do not marry or give in marriage (Matthew 22:30). The angels are spiritual beings who do not have the same physical needs as humans, and therefore do not need marriage. Similarly, in heaven, believers will have a spiritual existence and will not need marriage in the same way that we do on earth. This is not to say that marriage is not a valuable and important institution on earth, but rather that it will not continue in the same form in heaven.

Some may argue that if there is no marriage in heaven, then what about the wedding celebration that Jesus describes in Revelation 19:7-9, where he says that he will be united with the church in a way described as a husband taking a wife? However, this passage is not referring to a literal marriage, but rather a spiritual union between Jesus and his church. In this sense, the wedding celebration is a symbol of the joy and celebration that will take place in heaven when believers are reunited with Jesus. It is not a reference to a physical marriage, but rather a spiritual one. Therefore, based on the Bible's clear teaching on the matter, it appears that there will be no marriage in heaven as we know it on earth.
