Biblical Answer

If you have to give up your home, it can be a difficult and painful experience. As Christians, we are reminded that our true home is not of this world, but in heaven with God (John 14:2). The Bible teaches us that we are aliens and pilgrims in this world, and that our true citizenship is in heaven (Hebrews 11:13-16). Therefore, we should not become too attached to our earthly possessions, including our homes. In fact, the Bible warns us that a house larger than our needs can be a hindrance to our progress towards heaven (1 Timothy 6:10). Instead, we should focus on building a spiritual home, a relationship with God that will last for eternity.

Rebuilding our spiritual home starts with humility and a recognition that Jesus has not been the rock-solid foundation of our home. We need to acknowledge that our home has been built on shaky ground, and that we need to surrender our attachment to earthly things and ambitions. This is not to say that we should give up our homes without a fight, but rather that we should be willing to let go of our attachment to them. As the Bible says, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal" (Matthew 6:19-20). By focusing on building a spiritual home, we can ensure that our true treasures are safe and secure.

In the end, it is not the physical house that matters, but the spiritual home that we build with God. As the Bible says, "Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or drink; nor about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" (Matthew 6:25-26). By trusting in God's provision and care, we can let go of our attachment to our earthly possessions, including our homes, and focus on building a spiritual home that will last for eternity.
