Biblical Answer

As a pastor, I've seen many people struggle with fear, and I believe it's okay to feel scared of the unknown. In fact, the Bible acknowledges that fear is a natural part of being human. Even when we're confident that we'll be with Jesus, the unknown can still be intimidating. Scripture doesn't give many specifics, and that can make us nervous about the unpredictable details.

When dealing with fears, I encourage people to take two basic steps. First, confess those fears as unbelief. Ask yourself if your heart is saying, "Lord, I don't believe you" or "Lord, my desires want something other than what you promised." Recognizing the root of our fear is crucial. Second, examine Scripture and be confident in the love and faithfulness of Jesus. Ask someone who is confident in Jesus to give reasons for their confidence.

It's also essential to remember that we're not alone in our fears. The fear of the Lord is knowing that we live before the face of God, and that He sees every aspect of our lives. This knowledge can help us live publicly, following Christ in joyful and reverential obedience. When fear persists, don't hesitate to ask for help from strong believers. Prayer can be a powerful tool in overcoming fear, and the presence of the Lord can drive out fear from our lives.
