Biblical Answer

The Bible teaches that salvation is a gift from God, and it is not earned through our good works or efforts. Rather, it is received through faith in Jesus Christ. According to Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." This means that salvation is not something we can achieve on our own, but rather it is a result of God's sovereign grace and mercy.

To be saved, we must put our faith in Jesus Christ, trusting in His death and resurrection as the payment for our sins. This is not just a intellectual assent, but a personal trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior. As the apostle Paul wrote in Romans 10:9-10, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved." This means that we must not only believe in Jesus, but also confess Him as Lord with our mouths.

The Bible also teaches that salvation is a lifelong process, and it is not just a one-time event. According to Colossians 1:23, "if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel." This means that we must continue to walk in the faith, and not turn back to our old ways of living. As the Bible says in Hebrews 3:12-13, "Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called 'today,' that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin." This means that we must continually seek to grow in our faith, and to live a life that reflects our trust in Jesus Christ.
