Prioritizing Unity Over Division in Disrupted Plans

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Eph. 4:3). This unity is not something we can take for granted, but rather it requires intentional effort to preserve. When our plans are constantly being disrupted, it can be easy to let division and disunity creep in. However, we must prioritize unity over division in order to maintain a strong and healthy community.

Three Steps to Prioritize Unity

To prioritize unity over division, we must first set priorities. This involves intentionally becoming directed persons rather than driven persons. We must learn to focus on what is truly important and eliminate distractions that steal away our time and energy. This requires a willingness to examine our priorities and make intentional choices about how we spend our time and resources. Additionally, we must examine for inefficiency and eliminate any unnecessary or ineffective activities that are wasting our time and resources. Finally, we must start at the bottom and cut, eliminating the non-essential and focusing on the essential. By following these three steps, we can prioritize unity and maintain a strong and healthy community, even in the midst of disrupted plans.

We must be willing to tolerate differences and perspectives that may not align with our own, without being indifferent to truth. By prioritizing unity and maintaining a strong and healthy community, we can face the challenges of disrupted plans with confidence and hope, knowing that we are united in the Spirit and directed by the Lord.
