The punishment for lying in the Bible is severe and can be eternal. The Bible teaches that a false witness will not go unpunished and that those who speak lies will not escape (Proverbs 19:5). In fact, the Bible says that God cannot lie or speak falsely (2 Samuel 7:28, Titus 1:2, Hebrews 6:18), and that all liars will be found in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur far from the heavenly city (Revelation 21:8). This suggests that lying is a serious offense that can have eternal consequences.

The Bible also describes various forms of punishment for lying, including capital punishment. In the Old Testament, false witnesses were to be put to death (Deuteronomy 17:7), and those who lied were to be fined or have their property expropriated (Exodus 22:7-12). In the New Testament, Jesus warns against lying, saying that one should simply let their Yes be Yes and their No be No (Matthew 5:37). The consequences of telling lies can be severe, including death, and can even lead people to hell (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
