Biblical Answer

I can relate to the struggle of losing one's business and sense of purpose. As a pastor of a local evangelical church, I've seen many people go through similar experiences. When I reflect on my own journey, I remember the early days of my ministry when I made some terrible financial decisions that almost put Thomas Road Baptist Church and Liberty University out of business. It was a difficult time, but God was gracious and our ministry became stronger because of it. I learned that even in the midst of crisis, God's purpose is for me to depend on Him and His power.

Losing a business can be a devastating experience, but it's not the end of the world. In fact, it can be an opportunity for growth and renewal. As I look back, I realize that I had not yet found a job in which my responsibilities met my areas of ability. It was a wake-up call for me to re-evaluate my priorities and focus on what truly mattered. I've seen people lose their job due to various reasons, including stealing from the company or low morale. But what's more common is that people lose their job because they're in the wrong place at the wrong time for the wrong reason.

The key to finding purpose again is to focus on Jesus and His purpose for our lives. As I developed a life plan to give me focus, I began to see that God's purpose is not just about achieving a specific goal, but about depending on Him and His power. It's about living by faith and trusting that God wants us to accomplish. When we focus on Jesus, we start to see that our tasks and responsibilities are not just about achieving a particular end, but about living out God's purpose in our lives. So, even in the midst of losing a business, we can find hope and purpose by looking to Jesus and His plan for our lives.
