Understanding the Nature of God's Power and Sovereignty

The question of why God can't just make everything okay is a complex one that touches on the nature of God's power and sovereignty. The Bible teaches that God is all-powerful and can do all things, as stated in Matthew 19:26, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." However, God's power is not limited by our understanding of what is possible or impossible. He is able to do what He wants, but He also operates within the framework of His character, which includes His holiness and justice.

The Problem of Evil and Suffering

The problem of evil and suffering is a common objection to the existence of an all-powerful, all-good God. However, this objection assumes that God's primary goal is to create a world without suffering or evil. But the Bible teaches that God's primary goal is to create a world where humanity can choose to love and obey Him freely. This means that God allows evil and suffering to exist in order to give humanity the opportunity to choose between good and evil. As the Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

God's Purposes and Our Limited Understanding

We must also remember that our understanding of God's purposes is limited by our finite perspective. We may not be able to see how God's allowing evil and suffering serves His ultimate purposes, but that does not mean that it does not serve those purposes. As the Bible says in Isaiah 55:8-9, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." We must trust that God is working all things together for our good, even when we do not understand why He allows evil and suffering to exist. (Romans 8:28)
