Your Question:

What's the point of living when I'm in so much pain?

Answer:

My friend, I can sense the depth of your pain and the sense of hopelessness that comes with it. I've walked with people through their darkest moments, and I want you to know that you're not alone. As a pastor, I've seen how pain can feel like a crushing weight, but I want to encourage you to look beyond the surface. What if I told you that pain is not always meaningless? What if it's a reminder that we're not in control, and that's where our trust is supposed to be - in God.

You see, pain can be a wake-up call, a reminder of our human brokenness and our need for God. It's not that God causes our pain, but rather, it's an opportunity for us to seek outside assistance and turn to Him in repentance and faith. As the Bible says, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). The truth is that we're not alone in our pain, and that God is not distant or indifferent. He's a loving Father who wants to comfort us in our suffering.

I want to share a personal experience with you. As I've walked through my own struggles, including a year and a half of bone cancer pain, I've come to realize that the pain is temporary, but the lessons learned from it are eternal. The joys of eternal life will dwarf our suffering, and put the lessons learned from that suffering in their proper eternal perspective. You may feel like you're stuck in this pain right now, but I want to remind you that it's not the end. There is hope, and that hope is found in God's promise that "there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" (Revelation 21:4).
