Can I lose God's love?
Can I lose God's love?
From a biblical perspective, it is not possible to lose God's love. As the Bible says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness" (Jeremiah 31:3). God's love for us is not based on our feelings or actions, but rather on His nature as a loving God. He loves us because He is love (1 John 4:8). However, our feelings about God's love can change. We may feel abandoned, rejected, or distant from God, but this does not mean that His love for us has changed.
The Bible teaches that our feelings can lie, and that we should not rely on them to determine our relationship with God. As Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commands" (John 14:15). He did not say, "If you feel my love, keep my commands." Instead, He said that we should demonstrate our love for Him by obeying His commands. If we are not seeking God with our whole heart, or if we are loving other things in a way that is unconnected to Him, it may indicate a lack of love for Him. But this does not mean that we have lost His love.
In fact, the Bible says, "Nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:39). This means that no matter what happens in our lives, no matter how we feel, we are always loved by God. Our relationship with Him may change, but His love for us does not. As the psalmist wrote, "I have called upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me, and hear my words" (Psalm 17:6). God's love is not something that we can lose, but rather something that we can choose to respond to or ignore. If we are not feeling God's love, it may be because we are not seeking Him with our whole heart. But this does not mean that His love for us has changed. It means that we need to re-examine our relationship with Him and seek to deepen our love for Him.
