Can I still be a good person if I'm struggling financially?

As a Christian, I would say that being a good person has nothing to do with your financial situation. In fact, the Bible teaches us that we can be rich in the awareness that we are nobody, or that we are somebody. It's not about the amount of money we have, but about our heart and our relationship with God. Jesus himself became poor for our sake, so that we through his poverty might become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). This is the nature of true wealth, and it's not something that can be measured by our bank account.

Moreover, the Bible warns us against the dangers of loving money and the love of wealth. It says that loving money lets us down, and that we can't buy happiness (Psalm 37:4). In fact, research has shown that once our basic needs are met, additional wealth does not necessarily lead to greater happiness. This is because our happiness is not based on external circumstances, but on our internal heart habits. As Proverbs 8:21 says, "For the one who finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord." True happiness and fulfillment come from knowing and following God, not from our financial situation.

So, can you still be a good person if you're struggling financially? Absolutely! In fact, it's often in times of financial struggle that we are forced to rely on God and trust in his provision. As the Bible says, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). God is always with us, and he is always able to provide for us. So, don't let your financial situation define your self-worth or your relationship with God. Instead, focus on developing a heart that is rich in faith, love, and obedience to God. This is the true measure of a good person, and it's something that can be achieved regardless of our financial situation.
