Your Question:

How should Christians treat LGBTQ people?

Answer:

How Christians Should Treat LGBTQ People

Christians are called to love and befriend LGBTQ people, just as they are called to love all people. This means Christians should listen to people who identify as LGBTQ and give them false hope. We should not integrate their faith and sexual orientation. Instead, we should show them that God's Word condemns homosexuality in all its forms. The Bible never commends or condones homosexual behavior on any level, but consistently repudiates it.

However, this does not mean we should be rude or unkind toward those we think are mistaken. Christians are bound to love everyone with the love of Christ, even those we think are wrong. We should tell them about Jesus and show them his love, just as we would to others. Loving people doesn't mean agreeing with all their decisions. My non-Christian friends make mistakes, and I still love them. We should also show compassion and understanding to those who are struggling with same-sex attraction.

The Bible is clear that same-sex sexual relationships are not okay for Christians. But instead of being judgmental and hateful of people in gay relationships, Christians are called to love their gay neighbors. We should not condemn homosexuality when so many Christians are made miserable by repressing their sexual orientation. We should show them that there is a better way, a way of living in accordance with God's design. We should also show them that there is hope for change and that God's love is greater than any struggle they may be facing. By showing them love and compassion, we can point them to the love and redemption of Jesus Christ.
