Understanding the Nature of Trust in God's Healing

Can I really trust God to bring healing and restoration to my life? The Bible teaches us that God is sovereign over all creation, and His will is to bring healing and restoration to our lives. Jesus said, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you" (John 15:7). This means that we have a certain amount of control over our lives, and we can trust God to work out His will in our lives. However, we must also understand that God's ways are not always our ways, and His will may not always align with our desires. As J. H. McConkey writes, "If it is wholly a matter for God to choose as to whether He will heal, it must be wholly for God to choose how He will heal" (Prayer, pp. 115-16).

The Importance of Faith in God's Healing

Faith plays a crucial role in God's healing and restoration. Jesus said, "According to your faith let it be to you" (Matthew 9:29). This means that our faith determines the level of healing and restoration we experience in our lives. If we have faith in God's ability to heal and restore us, we can trust that He will work out His will in our lives. The Bible teaches us that God is the creator of life, and only He can restore and renew it when impaired. As the Psalmist writes, "He not only addresses the convictions of our heart and our guilt, He brings that which is sweet, good, and desirable to our will and affections. By these blessings He returns our soul to rest" (Psalm 116:7).

Trusting God in the Face of Uncertainty

So, can we really trust God to bring healing and restoration to our lives? The answer is yes. While there is no guarantee of healing, God wants us to trust Him as the source of all good things. Even when He says no, He wants us to trust Him. As the Bible teaches, "You can trust God. He will not let you be tested more than you can stand. But when you are tested, He will also make a way out so that you can bear it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). So, we must learn to trust God in the face of uncertainty, knowing that He is sovereign over all creation and His will is to bring healing and restoration to our lives.
