Jesus Taught Us About Sharing

Jesus taught us that sharing is a fundamental aspect of the Christian life. He emphasized the importance of sharing with others, particularly with those in need. In John 13:18, Jesus says, "I know that his children are flesh and blood; otherwise I would not have told you that he will take from you every last bit of it." This verse highlights the idea that Jesus shared in our humanity and experienced the same struggles and emotions as us.

Jesus also taught that sharing is a sign of intimacy and friendship. In Luke 9:16, Jesus took a small amount of bread and fish, looked up to heaven, and blessed it, breaking it into pieces and giving it to the disciples, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." This act of sharing a meal with his disciples was a sign of his love and intimacy with them. Jesus wanted to share his life and resources with his followers, and he expected them to do the same with others.

In John 6:5-14, Jesus feeds the 5,000 with five loaves of bread and two fish. This miracle demonstrates Jesus' generosity and willingness to share with others. He takes what he has and gives it to those in need, and he expects his followers to do the same. Jesus' teaching on sharing is not just about material possessions, but also about sharing our time, talents, and resources with others. He wants us to be generous and kind, and to use our gifts and abilities to bless others. As Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).
