When everything feels so wrong, it can be challenging to find comfort in our faith. We may feel like we've lost our way, and our doubts and fears can be overwhelming. However, it's essential to remember that faith is not about how we feel, but about the knowledge that we walk before the God who hears (Psalm 88). Faith is not the presence of warm religious feeling, but rather the art of holding on to things our reason has once accepted, in spite of our changing moods (C.S. Lewis). In times of suffering and depression, it's crucial to distinguish between depression and faith. As the psalmist wrote, "You have not given me enough strength to live, or enough time to recover" (Psalm 88:4), but even in the midst of suffering, we can find comfort in God's presence and provision.
