Can I still have a sense of purpose if there is no transcendent value or ultimate purpose to life?

In this world view, the answer to the question is yes. While it may seem counterintuitive, a sense of purpose can still be found even in the absence of a transcendent value or ultimate purpose. This is because our sense of purpose is often rooted in our relationships, experiences, and values, which can be meaningful and fulfilling even in the absence of a higher purpose. For example, a person may find purpose in their relationships with family and friends, in their work or hobbies, or in their contributions to their community. These purposes may not be transcendent, but they can still bring a sense of meaning and fulfillment to one's life.

However, it's worth noting that this view of purpose can be fleeting and unstable. If our sense of purpose is solely based on our individual experiences and relationships, it can be easily disrupted by changes in our circumstances or the loss of those relationships. Through faith in Jesus Christ, we can find a sense of purpose that is stable, meaningful, and fulfilling, even in the midst of uncertainty or adversity. As the Bible says, "We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10). This sense of purpose is not based on our own efforts or achievements, but on the sovereign plan of God, which is to bring glory to Himself through our lives.
