The Biblical Teaching on Remarriage after Divorce

The Bible teaches that remarriage after divorce is a sinful act. This teaching is based on the words of Jesus in Matthew 19:1-12, where He affirms that divorce is only permitted in cases of adultery (Matthew 5:32, 19:9). If a couple divorces and one of them remarries, it is considered adultery, and this is because it substitutes a new sexual union for the indissoluble union that God has created (Matthew 5:32).
