Your Question:
Why me, Lord? Why must I suffer so?
Answer:
My friend, I can sense the weight of your struggles and the questions that plague your heart. As a pastor, I've seen many people grapple with the same doubts and fears when faced with suffering. You see, it's natural to ask "Why me, Lord?" when we're in the midst of pain. But I want to share with you a truth that has brought comfort to many: God is not absent in our suffering; He is present, and He is working. You may not understand the reasons behind your suffering, just as I don't always understand the reasons behind the struggles of those I pastor. But I do know this: God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). He sees the bigger picture, and He is working everything out for our good (Romans 8:28). When we trust Him, even when we don't understand, we begin to see that our suffering can be a catalyst for growth, for intimacy with God, and for the development of His character in us. As I reflect on my own life, I'm reminded that my purpose belongs to God, not me. He is using me from His great personal perspective, and all He asks of me is that I trust Him. When I stop telling God what I want and trust Him with my life, He can work His will in me without any hindrance. He can crush me, exalt me, or do anything else He chooses. And that's exactly what He does when I trust Him with my suffering.
