The Problem of Suffering: A Biblical Perspective

The question of why God allows suffering is a complex and deeply personal issue. Many people struggle with this problem, wondering how an all-powerful and all-loving God could permit such pain and hardship in the world. However, from a biblical perspective, suffering can be seen as a means of bringing people closer to God. Suffering as a Teacher

Suffering can be a teacher, as it taught Jesus (Hebrews 5:8). It can teach us to trust and rely on God, even in the midst of pain and hardship. As the prophet Isaiah said, "The Lord has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word. Morning by morning he wakens my ear to listen as a learner" (Isaiah 50:4). We can trust that God is using our suffering to teach us and to bring us closer to Himself. Divine sovereignty is a mystery, but it is also a source of comfort and strength. We can trust that God is working all things together for our good, even in the midst of suffering.
